The affections are coded using
four characters. The first indicates the involved system (see columns on the
left). The second character can be an indent or a sign + meaning a severe
condition. The third character is a small letter, which refers to the nature
of the affection (see columns on the right). Lastly, the fourth character is
a capital letter which is generally the first letter of the affected organ in
its Latin designation; e.g. the code D-mR means an affection (-) of the
digestive system (D), malignant (m) and involving the rectum (R). The
affections are described in the appendix B by alphabetic order of the
systems. |
